Other Duties As Assigned

It’s often the projects that pull you out of the day-to-day routine that present the biggest challenges—and the greatest rewards. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredibly talented creatives. One standout experience was Goodbye New York, a musical by Andrew Beall (music), Evan McCormack (lyrics), and David Don Miller (book), which deeply aligned with the mission of Compassion & Choices. We collaborated to use music and performance as a way to educate and inspire audiences about end-of-life issues. During the pandemic lockdown, I partnered with the Harlem Gospel Choir to produce This Is Your Show—a song by Beall and McCormack—as the entertainment segment for our first virtual annual fundraiser. Another meaningful collaboration came when playwright Devorah Medwin approached me about sharing her play Wooden Nickels, which explores aging and end-of-life conversations. We arranged a virtual performance featuring Barbara Coombs Lee, founder of Compassion & Choices, playing herself. These creative projects, blending arts and advocacy, were both inspiring and incredibly well received
